Restoration for Shaughnessy Church

St John's Shaughnessy, window removal

We recently removed a window for restoration from St. John’s Anglican Church, Shaughnessy. It’s an interesting design with an unusual painting style and was created in the 50’s. The window is badly bowing, likely due to the original installation method used, and John is pictured here removing the copious amount of rock hard 60 year old putty in order to get the window out. It’s now in the studio soaking to soften the original cement and loosen some of the decades old grime, after which John will dismantle it and then re-lead and restore it.
