ESAG lecture 2017

Yesterday we had a lovely afternoon chatting with the Epiphany Sacred Arts Guild. It was the third time that they have invited us to do a “Ted Talk” style presentation about the creation of new stained glass works and the restoration and preservation of existing windows.

As always, we received a warm welcome complete with good coffee and lunch as a prelude to an attentive and involved audience! We discussed some of our recent commissions as well as the challenges faced by the 700 square foot restoration in Edmonton completed last summer. Our focus this time was the importance of structure allied with beauty; both carrying equal weight and consideration from concept through to installation.
After our talk we answered some questions and then members presented some of the art pieces they have been working on; paintings, icons and illustrations in varying medium. It’s great to see such a vibrant group of artists busy and keeping these art forms alive and contemporary. If anyone would like to know more about the guild, their link is here:
