St. John the Baptist Church, Biddisham, UK
The peaceful ambiance of this small rural church, parts of which date back to Norman times, was a major consideration when approaching this commission. This window was designed to create a focal point of colour for the West wall as it is the sole stained glass window in this area of the church.
Project Overview:
This two-light window was a Millennium project, but one in which the church council wanted to not only mark the Millennium but to explore its meaning for their parish.
Concept to Completion:
In the left window Annunciation and Nativity symbolism is used to depict the beginning of Christ’s life, while the right window represents Resurrection and Rebirth. The window also depicts the church itself, as it has an interesting feature in its leaning bell tower. A local natural feature, Crook Peak added a greater feeling of individuality to the window for the local community.
