Irises, Bristol, UK

“The conceptualisation and design is the most exciting part of a project but seeing the finished window installed in position runs a close second!”
- Laura Gilroy

Project Overview:

To create a window depicting our client’s favourite flower; the Iris.

Concept to Completion:

The Iris translates very well into stained glass, in that it naturally has a very defined and bold shape.  We designed the window to allow the eye to flow upward and outward from the leaves to the flowers and back again. We found just the right colour for the flowers from an old stock of Hartlywood English mouth blown glass that, sadly, is no longer produced.  The use of neutral background colours framed by golds really pushes the subject to the foreground.
