This three-light window was a Millennium project for a country parish church. The church council had originally wanted the Risen Christ surrounded by a procession of figures from local history.

We felt very strongly that a different approach was needed and when we presented our design they agreed unanimously. We wanted to depict the figures in the context of their daily lives and to not only show how Christ is present in our achievements through history, but show the figures in relation to the locality.

We linked each scene by means of a spiral of light emanating from Christ, and ensured that He remained the focal point of the window by the use of red behind the white robes. During the dedication conducted by the Arch Deacon of Bath and Wells, he asked the children of the parish, who had dressed in costume to depict the images in the window, "what have John and Laura used to bind all the colours of the window together?" to which one little girl replied "fairy dust".
