This large rose window at the west end of the church was 11 ft in diameter and 60 ft high up in the building.

The damage to the window and the surrounding stone mullions seemed to be the result of a shock wave. The positioning of the church in the centre of Bristol in England and the fact that the windows had been in this condition for a number of decades led us to believe that it may have been caused during the blitz in WWII. The church was being completely refurbished with a grant from English Heritage and it was after all the scaffolding had been erected and a stonemason was surveying that the damage came to light.

Each 'petal' of the rose window was difficult to remove as the mullions had slipped out of position slightly. The restoration itself was a strait-forward re-lead of a beautifully designed yet simple use of shape and colour.
