SGAA Conference “Forging New Paths”

Mosaic and Glass Arts International Exhibition, CEPA Gallery , Buffalo, NY

Outside the CEPA Gallery, Buffalo, NY

We are recently back from the Stained Glass Association of America’s (in collaboration with the Society of American Mosaic Artists) conference “Forging New Paths” held in their home town of Buffalo NY for their 120th anniversary.  This was our first year attending but it definitely won’t be the last as it was so much fun meeting a whole load of people who are so enthusiastic about stained glass! It was so encouraging how much drive there is out there for the future of this amazing art form. We were also really happy and honoured to have one of our projects (Our Lady of the Valley) jury selected to be part of the Mosaic and Glass Arts International Exhibition at the CEPA gallery there. It was one of the few exhibitions that featured installed commissions digitally along side other submissions physically displayed. We were hoping to have our cartoon for the window displayed as well, however at 7ft in diameter it was just too big for the gallery! After all that networking it was great to have some time to explore Buffalo, and we were so impressed with all the marvellously preserved Art Deco architecture and the gem that is the the Trinity Centre where the SGAA offices are located and where there are lovely examples of Tiffany and La Farge windows. The conference wrapped up at the Buffalo History Museum with a party and a viewing of the extraordinary exhibition “On the Shoulders of Giants”.  With many thanks to the SGAA and SAMA, Megan McElfresh, Bryant Stanton and Dawnmarie Zimmerman in particular, for arranging such an inspiring event!
