Bonsai Rock Cartoon Completed

I have finished the full size cartoon for our residential project in the Okanagan, which I drafted by hand using Indian ink and various types of soft pencil, determining the positioning of the leads and all the details and tonal values to be painted. I use a grid system to loosely draft all the elements from my original scaled design, making adjustments to positioning when it feels necessary and then I start refining and adding more detail.  I’m very pleased with how it looks; I particularly enjoy this stage of the process as it serves as the “skeleton” of the window, ensuring all the design elements are emphasized without the distraction of colour. The next stage is glass selection and that is when we fully focus on colour and where each hue will be placed within the window.
